The purpose of this documentary is not only to preserve for all time the "glory days" of a remarkable era of marching band, but also to raise awareness of what a program like music in school can do for today's youth. With budget cuts all around us, it is destroying the chance for today's musicians to become tomorrow's success stories. We hope to correct that.

STORIES

There are countless stories to be shared by former band members. This is one such story that comes not from a former 76th Cavalry Band member, but from one of our fiercest rivals: The Lincoln High School Monarch Band.

"My name is Rod Dunham and I was a member of the Lincoln Monarch band from 1981 through 84. I was DM my last 2 seasons. I know of the incredible band that you belonged to back in the late 70's early 80's . what AN AMAZING TIME THAT WAS! I understand you are putting together an historical documentary of the 76th Calvary band and would like to donate to your cause. You were our main rivalry and what kept us in prime competition shape! I remember my first day in band at Lincoln and Kevin Kono our incredible lead trumpet and future great  SCV  soprano  player  sat  me down and all the freshman and basically told us that our sole purpose in life for the next four years would be to beat Independence!......well on October (whatever date?) 1983 at the State Open in Santa Clara it finally happened.....my first show as DM and we finally did it!....needless to say we never beat IHS again but for that one moment we were on top of the world!....again I would love to aid in your cause.

The 76th Cavalry Band story will be told by you - its members. We will start making contact soon with all who are interested in being interviewed on camera for this project. In the meantime if you already know that you want to be involved, please shoot us an email so that we can start scheduling. PLEASE NOTE THAT although this project will cover the years 1976-1981, we would still love to hear from and talk to members of the band beyond that period. We would love to talk about the band's legacy, what its history meant to you and how the band progressed after the 1981 MBA championship.
